ABOUT THE TEAM

The Credit Analytics team sits at the heart of OakNorth’s lending business, delivering rigorous financial and credit analysis across a diverse portfolio of commercial loan opportunities. Our CRE specialists work closely with Debt Directors, Risk, and client-facing teams in the UK and US to ensure every real estate lending decision is underpinned by deep sector knowledge, robust financial modelling, and a thorough understanding of the borrower’s operating environment.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We’re looking for an Associate Vice President to join our Credit Analytics team, specialising in Commercial Real Estate lending across the UK and US. You’ll conduct detailed analysis of loan opportunities spanning major property types — Residential, Office, Retail, Industrial, Lodging, and Healthcare — building financial models, drafting credit reports, and engaging directly with clients and stakeholders throughout the credit process. This is a high-impact role for someone who combines deep CRE expertise with strong financial acumen and a sharp, clear communication style.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Conduct detailed analysis of loan opportunities across all major CRE property types — Residential, Office, Retail, Industrial, Lodging, and Healthcare — in the UK and/or US.

• Draft concise, well-structured credit reports with clear key takeaways for Credit and Risk to review and comment on.

• Build detailed financial models covering transaction details, financial statement analysis, projections, ratio analysis, and credit metrics.

• Conduct sensitivity analysis and stress testing on projections to assess loan serviceability under adverse scenarios.

• Identify deal-specific covenants that can serve as early warning signals for loan monitoring purposes.

• Conduct detailed industry and market studies to understand the operating environment of borrowers.

• Review and evaluate third-party reports including property appraisals, valuation reports, and cost budgets; interpret and analyse rent rolls, operating statements, and lease schedules.

• Interact with clients to discuss data gaps, inconsistencies, and analytical frameworks; liaise with Debt Directors and other stakeholders throughout the credit process.

YOU’LL BE A GREAT FIT IF YOU HAVE…

• 5–8 years of relevant experience in credit analysis, CRE finance, or a related role within financial services.

• Strong financial analysis skills with a thorough understanding of accounting and financial concepts, including the ability to build and interrogate detailed financial models.

• Strong understanding of Commercial Real Estate, including proficiency in interpreting rent rolls, operating statements, lease schedules, and third-party valuation and appraisal reports.

• Proven ability to draft clear, concise, and well-reasoned credit reports for senior stakeholders.

• Strong communication skills with confidence interacting with Debt Directors, clients, and stakeholders across geographies.

• A proactive, results-driven mindset — curious, flexible, hands-on, and comfortable operating at pace in an environment where change is part of daily work.

Nice to Have

• MBA, PGDM, CA, or CFA from a reputed institute.

• Experience across both UK and US CRE markets.

• Prior exposure to covenant structuring or loan monitoring frameworks.

• Familiarity with cost budget review and construction lending analysis.
