Director of Product Team: Product Reports to: McKay Ferrell, CPO Location: Remote, United States Type: Full-time
Job Summary As a Director of Product at SureCost, you'll own the business of a set of products that pharmacies depend on to keep drugs on the shelf at the right cost. You'll bring new products to market and make our existing products better, from the first customer conversation through launch and adoption. You'll know our customers well enough to build things they love to use, and you'll measure whether they do. This is a hands-on role. You'll talk to customers every week, prototype ideas before engineering builds them, and work with our commercial team to launch and sell what we ship. We're rebuilding how our product team works around AI tools, and you'll help shape that as you go.
Essential Functions • Own the roadmap, outcomes and quarterly priorities for your product areas, and decide which initiatives make the quarter within the capacity your pods actually have. • Run a monthly business review for your area covering adoption, customer issues, revenue signals and delivery against plan. • Build toward product-level P&L visibility for your area with the CPO. • Own the quality of what your area ships, including the share of engineering time that goes to various initiatives. • Build and help guide product builder team members with AI tooling and structures. • Stay close to customers. Expect several customer conversations a week, including the hard ones with enterprise accounts. • Work with the commercial team on product launch planning and enablement, including launch timing, sales training, demo readiness and customer communication. • Partner with Marketing on positioning, messaging and competitive intelligence for your products. • Give pricing and packaging input for new products and major enhancements. • Bring what you hear from Sales, Customer Success and the market back into the roadmap, including win/loss patterns and competitor moves. • Track adoption after launch and work with Customer Success to drive it. • Build and ship prototypes, skills and agents yourself, and set the standard your team follows for AI- assisted discovery, specs and evaluation. • Own the AI agents in your area end to end: the problem they solve, the precision bar they have to meet, the evaluation that proves it, and where a named human approves an action. • Recommend when to stop or reshape an initiative, and bring the evidence. SureCost | Job Description • Work across product areas with the other Director, Product Ops and Design so the product lifecycle (inventory, purchasing, shortage) holds together for the customer.
How We Work • Product areas own the work. Our value streams point where our teams are focused and set how each pod's hours are split, and every Director plans inside that split. • Our product builders combine what used to be PM, PO and UX roles. Agents draft stories, acceptance criteria, status and first-pass triage. People make the decisions and own the quality. • AI fluency is part of how we hire and how we review. • We're remote-first. Most of our work takes place over digital ecosystems, including video calls, chats, email, and other systems – you’ll need to be self-motivated and comfortable in an all-remote environment. • The domain is complicated: GPO contracts, wholesaler operations, DSCSA, 340B and drug shortages. We give you time to learn it, and we expect you to go deep.
Requirements • 5+ years in product management for B2B or enterprise SaaS, including 2+ years leading product managers or product owners. • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business, Pharmacology, or related required. • A record of owning product outcomes, such as adoption, retention or revenue, and being able to show what changed because of your decisions. • Hands-on AI fluency you can demonstrate: you've built prototypes, workflows or agents with tools like Claude, Cursor or similar, and you can show how you evaluated whether they worked. • Experience writing or owning evaluation criteria for AI or machine learning features, or a clear plan for how you'd do it. • Strong written communication. You'll be asked for a writing sample. • Comfort with data: you can pull and read usage and support data yourself and report on it. You own your metrics. • Experience working with enterprise customers under contract, including hard conversations about scope and dates. • Ability to lead through influence across engineering, Sales, Customer Success and Finance.
Preferred Qualifications • Pharmacy, healthcare supply chain, distribution or procurement experience. • Pragmatic Institute (Pragmatic Marketing) certification. • Fluency in statistical analysis and methods. • Familiarity with DSCSA, 340B, GPO contracts or wholesaler operations. • Experience with regulated software, including audit and compliance requirements. • Experience taking a product from a service-heavy model to a platform or API-first model.
