Reports to the CPO and Co Founder
We’re a collectibles startup that quickly reached profitability with a small team of talented, passionate builders. Mobile is the center of our customer experience, and we’re looking for a senior developer to lead the vision and execution for iOS.
The current state
Trove is an early stage B2C business, backed by top tier VCs and athletes, built by founders who have scaled and exited multiple startups. We’ve created a gamified platform for trading cards that offers digital access to physical inventory. We have about 20 employees spread out across the US, Canada, Europe, and South America. iOS is our flagship platform and sets the standard for functionality and user experience across web and Android. Our app was built in-house by a handful of engineers and our two technical founders, but this will be our first hire fully dedicated to setting the technical direction for iOS.
The opportunity
In this role you'll own iOS end to end, including the architecture, standards, and full product surface. You’ll decide how core systems are built so they hold up long term, then build engaging features and experiences to keep our users coming back every day. This isn't just implementing other people's ideas: you’ll work closely with the founding team to shape what a feature should be, often starting from an idea that isn’t fully formed yet, then carry it through implementation. Much of that work is detailed animation and interaction with a strong emphasis on design; we care deeply about the user experience and how things look and feel. Ultimately you'll have a lot of influence over how our product evolves and a heavy hand in shaping what Trove becomes. This is a leadership role but you won't manage a team, you'll operate as an IC and stay very close to the work.
What you bring
-
Deep expertise in Swift, SwiftUI, and UIKit (not just feature work)
-
A history of shipping and scaling a highly interactive consumer app, owning the full product surface
-
Polished, animation-heavy work you can show us
-
Experience building complex, stateful interfaces that feel simple to the person using them
-
Background in marketplace, fintech, gaming, or social apps
-
Real 0→1 experience inside a company (not just side projects or agency work)
-
Comfort making architectural decisions with incomplete information and adjusting when priorities change
What success looks like
Ripping, selling, and redeeming cards feels effortless and engaging, even though there's a lot of complexity happening underneath. The app is fast, stable, and it holds up as usage grows. The architecture lets us try new ideas quickly without piling up technical debt. New features feel as polished as the core experience and we're shipping multiple times every month. Collectors notice the quality of our app and regularly tell us how much they enjoy new features and experiences. Engineering becomes something that sets us apart and Trove is regarded as one of the best iOS apps in our category.
