micro1 is engaging Mechanical Design Engineer – CAD & Manufacturing experts to contribute technical expertise on a customer's engineering project. In this role, you'll apply your expertise to help train next-generation AI systems. Your work will shape how models learn, reason, and perform through high-quality, real-world input. No prior experience in AI is required — your domain knowledge is what matters.

Scope of Work

1. Create and interpret professional engineering drawings, ensuring all relevant details are conveyed for manufacturing.
2. Translate complex design requirements into clear, manufacturable CAD specifications, with a focus on accuracy and precision.
3. Produce detailed 2D and 3D models using industry-standard tools (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Onshape, Inventor, Creo, NX) and reference models in FreeCAD.
4. Apply advanced principles of tolerancing, dimensioning, and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) to all deliverables.
5. Document and communicate manufacturing processes and design intent in clear, well-structured written and verbal formats.
6. Review, critique, and improve existing engineering documentation to enhance clarity and manufacturability.
7. Contribute insights on design for manufacture (DFM) and help optimize parts for real-world production scenarios.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Extensive industry experience in mechanical design, with parts successfully transitioned from concept through to manufacturing.
2. Expert-level proficiency in CAD software, with demonstrated capability across multiple platforms (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Onshape, Inventor, Creo, NX).
3. Solid hands-on knowledge of FreeCAD for interpreting or referencing models.
4. Strong command of drafting standards, GD&T, tolerancing, and the creation of technical documentation suitable for manufacturing.
5. Deep understanding of various manufacturing processes, material selection, and DFM best practices.
6. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, able to document decisions and explain engineering concepts clearly.
7. Experience collaborating on engineering projects remotely and sharing feedback in a constructive, professional manner.
