NOC Internship Interns work under the close guidance of a dedicated mentor and manager, building foundational Linux, networking, and cloud skills through structured training, supervised troubleshooting, and real operational exposure — without solo incident ownership or on-call responsibility. High-performing interns may be considered for full-time roles at the end of the program. Key Responsibilities Observe and assist in monitoring edge compute and Versa SD-WAN platforms, learning to recognize normal vs. abnormal system behavior. Shadow escalated incident response, learning triage and diagnostic approaches across Linux, virtualized, containerized, and cloud environments. Assist with guided troubleshooting exercises under the supervision of senior engineers. Learn to use observability and monitoring tools (e.g., Grafana, SolarWinds, DataMiner) and contribute to dashboard and alert review. Support documented, low-risk changes to compute nodes or edge services within formal change control processes. Participate as an observer in incident post-mortems and root cause analysis. Help identify recurring issues and contribute ideas for automation and process improvement. Assist in creating and maintaining operational documentation, troubleshooting guides, and SOPs/runbooks. Required Skills & Experience Final-year Bachelor's student in Engineering or Technology from a recognized university, with a strong academic record and no active backlogs. Able to obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your university confirming eligibility to participate in the program. Available to commit to a minimum six-month internship, up to 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Basic familiarity with Linux command-line operations (file navigation, logs, process management). Foundational understanding of networking concepts: IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, NAT, and the OSI/TCP-IP model, through coursework or self-study. Exposure to virtualization concepts (hypervisors, VMs vs. containers) through coursework or personal projects. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a proactive and curious approach to learning in a live operations environment. Preferred Qualifications Basic scripting exposure (Python or Bash) through coursework or personal projects. Personal or academic projects involving Docker, Kubernetes, or K3s. Familiarity with REST APIs and tools like Postman or CURL, from coursework or personal projects. Exposure to infrastructure-as-code concepts (Ansible, Terraform) through coursework. Certifications in progress (e.g., CompTIA Network+, CCNA) or home-lab / networking-lab experience. Working at Speedcast: At Speedcast, we want people that like adventure.
