Pre-Sales Deployed Engineer

About the Role
A fast-growing, seed-stage AI developer tools company is hiring a Pre-Sales Deployed Engineer based in London (German-speaking candidates also considered). This is a rare hybrid role for engineers who can genuinely both code and sell — you'll serve as the technical expert partnering with Account Executives to close enterprise deals, running hands-on technical pilots with development teams at prospective customers.
You'll work 100% on-site five days a week in London. Visa sponsorship is available.
What You'll Do
-
Partner with sales to qualify opportunities and act as the primary technical advisor throughout the pre-sales cycle — from discovery through to a successful close.
-
Run structured multi-week technical pilots with enterprise dev teams: lead kickoff calls, host regular office hours, and pair-program directly with customer engineers to demonstrate real-world value.
-
Present the product's vision, benefits, and differentiators to audiences ranging from individual developers to C-suite executives.
-
Deliver technical training sessions, live demos, and create customer-facing documentation, guides, and enablement resources.
-
Build and maintain technical collateral (demos, blogs, videos, guides) tailored to enterprise use cases.
-
Gather and synthesize customer feedback, feeding actionable insights back to Product and Engineering to influence the roadmap.
-
Travel to customer sites and industry events as needed to support engagements.
What We're Looking For
Must-haves:
-
1+ years of solutions or pre-sales engineering experience for a technical product; developer tooling experience strongly preferred.
-
Strong CS fundamentals — CS degree from a top programme or equivalent demonstrated experience.
-
Solid programming skills in at least one object-oriented language; comfortable pair-programming live with customer engineers.
-
Fluency in both German and English.
-
Hands-on experience with AI-powered developer tools (code completion, AI chat assistants, or similar LLM-based tools).
-
Proven ability to deliver technical training, live demos, and create customer-facing documentation and enablement content.
-
Willingness to travel to customer sites and events as required.
-
A genuine interest in and aptitude for sales — high EQ, a closing mindset, and executive presence.
Nice-to-haves:
-
Experience engaging and presenting to C-suite and executive stakeholders.
-
Track record of successful enterprise software deployments or driving customer adoption initiatives.
-
Experience gathering customer feedback to inform product roadmap decisions.
This role is not for:
-
Pure software engineers with no interest in sales or customer-facing work.
-
Sales professionals who rely on others for technical depth.
-
Solutions engineers who have historically outsourced technical work to separate support teams.
Compensation & Benefits
-
Salary: $108,000 – $140,000 USD annually (London-based; EUR-equivalent compensation may apply for Germany-based candidates).
-
Visa sponsorship available.
Location
-
Primary: London, England, UK — 100% on-site, five days per week.
-
Germany-based candidates may also be considered; workplace details and currency may vary.
