The Regional Sales Engineer plays a pivotal role in the selling company products and services to the Segment customers in territory.  Responsibilities include three primary objectives; creating sales opportunities, defending sales, and penetrating sales, for existing and potential customers.

Our Regional Sales Engineer:

  • Develops technical product, application and supplier strategies with the TBU leadership, working closely with the Regional Sales teams to define specific target customers and to further develop the regional and local customer plans already in existence.  The RSE works closely with Outside Sales teams and the strategic suppliers, jointly visiting customers to execute the design-in of focus products into end customer applications.
  • Drives the sale of company products and services by working with the branches to develop sales strategies, generating leads and calling on segment customers in territory, resulting established relationships and winning product orders to achieving sales objectives.
  • The RSE should monitor the activities to the defined plans using the Customer Account Manager tool (CAM) and Opportunity Management System (OMS) reports and meet regularly with the local Branch Product Managers and General Managers/ Outside Sales Managers to review the progress of the branch to OMS targets as well as report on the non-branch-based activities to TBU Leadership.
  • Acts as the primary account manager for key OEM locations in their assigned geography.  Actively calls on these customers to create new opportunities for the key segment lines.
  • Serves as the subject matter expert (SME) for the TTI sales organization, related to the transportation business segment.
  • Facilitates training programs in the territory branch sales offices to educate the personnel on specific details concerning targeted customers and/or on products for the Segment market.
  • Understand supplier design registration programs and design protection cost discounts structures.  Understand local supplier competition offerings, market pricing and market conditions.
  • Establishes and maintains effective business rapport with branch sales managers and management staff by being involved with the key aspects of the Segment customers.
  • The RSE has a focus on technical new business demand creation and should regularly liaise with local suppliers updating them on our activity and holding regular design reviews, maintaining a strong relationship with our key suppliers.
  • Pursues new business leads by using all the resources available including reps, trade shows, networking, manufacturers, internet, and TTI Internal resources to penetrate and secure new business resulting in expanding the customer base and potential sale.
  • Facilitate quarterly business reviews (QBR) with the suppliers as well as regular meetings with internal management, to understand the business outlook and opportunities.
  • Communicates with branch locations to inform the sales staff of design wins at the key OEM customers that will most likely be procured through the branch supported wiring houses.
  • Answers and resolves all key segment customer technical questions, problems and complaints by responding to the contact, resolving the issue of concern, and following through in a timely manner to provide the highest level of service available.
  • Maintains market awareness on competitor activities, industry tends and new concepts by reading industry periodicals, networking, attending periodic update training events and trade shows which will ensure that the rep current on industry knowledge to aid in making informed decisions and adding value.
  • Participates in the TTI Total Quality Program by supporting the importance of quality; ensuring that defined processes are being followed and identifying the areas of process improvement in everyday transactions.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Preferred Bachelor of Science Degree in a related field (e.g. business, engineering, etc.), with a minimum of five years experience in electronics.
  • Previous knowledge or work experience in the Automotive & Transportation industry is preferred.

  • Strong organizational skills to set priorities, methodical approach and project management skills required for the achievement design conversion.
  • Need to be a Team player working proactively with other TSE’s and the Outside Sales team in the region.
  • Good sales and negotiation skills for convincing and persuading customers and suppliers to work with TTI and to convert designs.
  • Self-motivated and driven, able to work from home office.
  • Good Presentation and Mentoring skills required.
  • Strong verbal/written communications and interpersonal skills for communicating, and building relationships, extensive internal and external contacts.
  • Analytical skills for setting local / regional strategies and measuring success and results.
  • Strong verbal and written English language skills.
  • Extensive knowledge and High skill level of all relevant IT systems and MS Office applications.
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License, safe driving record and be insurable by the Companies’ liability carrier.
  • Requires ravel (~50%), amount varies depending on territory
