Designation offered: Research Intern
Team: Technology Futures
Reporting to: Research Analyst
Location: Online or New Delhi office
Duration: 3 months (extendable)
Purpose
The Research Intern will support the Technology Futures team's ongoing work on clean energy manufacturing, trade policy, and international collaborations. The role primarily involves contributing to case-study research, legal analysis, and literature reviews.
About the Focus Area
The Council's research on Technology Futures focuses on mainstreaming appropriate global and indigenous technologies to achieve sustainable economic growth while delivering energy security and jobs in the millions. The team tracks key technological developments and innovations in energy transition technologies, and analyses the broader global governance of technology collaborations in areas such as critical minerals, renewable energy, electric vehicles, climate geoengineering, and hydrogen working to shift the narrative from technology "transfer" to "co-development." This will help to accelerate the pace and scale of technology access, development, and use, globally.
Key Responsibilities - Research and Analysis
● Track relevant policy developments in the global clean energy technology landscape.
● Conduct literature reviews and synthesise findings on international trade, global governance, industrial developments, and clean technology manufacturing.
● Support drafting of research outputs based on synthesised findings.
● Assist with organising documentation and coordinating the verification of research findings.
Qualifications and Experience
Education: Pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's or Master's degree in:
● Law / Trade / Geopolitics
● Public Policy / Economics
● Related interdisciplinary fields
Experience
● 0–2 years of relevant experience, including internships, research assistantships, or academic projects.
● Prior exposure to legal analysis, trade policy, clean energy technologies, or critical minerals is desirable, though not required.
Key Competencies
● Analytical skills: ability to synthesise findings across academic literature, legal documents, and agreement text.
● Data handling: comfortable with Excel; familiarity with research or trade databases is an advantage.
● Technology and policy understanding: foundational grasp of clean energy technologies and international governance frameworks.
● Communication: strong written and verbal skills.
● Collaboration: able to work independently on assigned research while coordinating closely with the team.
CEEW operates in a dynamic environment, and the candidate will be required to show flexibility in undertaking a variety of tasks.
Compensation
Competitive compensation commensurate to the experience and matching the best of standards adopted by industry or other similar organisations for similar roles.
