Role Overview Our client is supporting the development of advanced AI systems by incorporating expert knowledge from real-world manufacturing and CNC machining workflows. We are looking for experienced CNC Machinists with strong hands-on expertise in Haas controls, machine setup, GD&T, precision inspection, and machining troubleshooting. The work focuses on evaluating and documenting practical production workflows across both industrial and desktop CNC environments. No previous AI experience is required; strong practical machining expertise is what matters. CONTRACT: Short-term contractor assignment, paid per approved task COMMITMENT: Flexible, subject to minimum weekly task submissions LOCATIONS: Remote, GLOBAL PROCESS: 30-minute AI interview → Hiring Manager review HOURLY RATE: $25 - $50/h NOTE: Hands-on experience with Haas CNC controls is required. Experience with desktop CNC platforms such as Makera Carvera is strongly preferred. Responsibilities Set up and operate CNC machines across industrial and desktop platforms. Load and verify CNC programs, tooling, workholding, and work offsets. Run first-piece cycles and adjust setups to achieve dimensional accuracy. Inspect machined parts against engineering drawings and specifications. Diagnose issues including tool wear, chatter, dimensional drift, and setup errors. Use calipers, micrometers, indicators, CMMs, and other precision measurement equipment. Interpret engineering drawings, manufacturing documentation, and GD&T callouts. Evaluate machining approaches across metals and engineering plastics. Provide practical feedback to CAM programmers on setup, manufacturability, and process optimization. Document machining decisions, troubleshooting steps, and production best practices. At least 5 years of hands-on CNC machining experience, including machine setup and production. Strong professional experience with Haas CNC controls, ideally VF-series machines or comparable platforms. Proven ability to independently configure tooling, workholding, work offsets, and machine setups. Strong proficiency in blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation. Hands-on experience with precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and indicators. Experience machining a range of metals and plastics. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot machining problems and optimize production setups. Excellent written and spoken English for technical documentation and feedback.
